If your dog does get too hot, immediately cool them down however you can and seek veterinary attention if necessary.

You must remember that your dog is probably walking barefoot wherever it goes. If you have ever felt the sidewalk on a hot sunny day, you know that it can get quite hot! A general rule of thumb to follow is if the ground is too hot for you to step on, it's too hot for your pup. Dehydration and heatstroke are both severe medical conditions that can be fatal for dogs if not treated immediately. Signs of dehydration include excessive panting, lethargy, dry mouth, and sunken eyes. Signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and seizures. If you see any of these signs in your dog, it is essential to take them to the vet immediately.
